The Worst Action IS Inaction

Paralyzed by fear unable to form a complete sentence she sat there staring at her computer. Type!Type! Type! But she could not will herself to do so..Type Type Type! The voice in her head grew louder. Type! Finally she had succumbed to her minds request.

Is this you? I know it me at times ..Paralyzed by the amount..time..energy... and effort it takes to write or take action so much so I just freeze. Yikes! 10 years from now I don't want to look back and think:  man wish I had taken the plunge on this. But sometimes well most of the time  we get in our own way. Paralyzed by making a mistake because we can't control mistakes. Nurses are notorious for this . Our profession makes us paranoid into perfectionism given the weight of our nursing duties. this perfectionism leads us to carry it in other aspects of our lives. " You're not holy ghost Jr" I can hear my mentor saying. And she's right.  You and I are not the Holy Sprint, God ,or any other supernatural being. Now the Holy Spirit can live inside us if we allow Him too but we are not omnipresent only God is. So let it go!!!!!

Let go of perfect and start living your life. Do your very best and let God handle the rest.

How to Let Go and Let God:

1. Pray. A lot of heartache and anguish can be avoided by praying.
2. Trust the process. Trust that He heard your prayer. He with answer it according to His will. Live in that truth.
3. Give it time. Some things don't happen overnight or instanaeously!
4. Let it go. Once you do the above walk in the Light and live with love.

Take care,

Love Letters to a Nurses Soul: Take the plunge!!!!

Dear Nurse,

Well its been awhile seven months but who's counting. I've been sort of busy..you know having a baby and stuff but no bigggie. In my free time...that's an oxymoron in my time not spent with my child and family I've been taking the plunge lately. In business and life you have to go for the gusto. If you don't someone else will and next year you'll be sitting here reading about it. Lets not let that happen. We only live once on this planet and we might as well make the best of it. Stop waiting to live(tweet) the time is now. your time is now. Plan for your future now! Prepare for 2015 now. Do you see where I'm going with this. I believe in you but you need to believe in yourself. Lets make this year so freak-in awesome all we can do is look back and say wow I am blessed by all the amazing experiences I've had !Thank you God for my blessings!!!

Until next time

Love,

Kimberly

Raqui Thursdays: Dreams Come True

Tomorrow I will be on Living Sublime Wellness Radio: my first of many radio shows and  I just have to pinch myself ! Is it possible all my dreams are coming true? My goal was to publish a great book and get it into as many nurses hands as possible. The ultimate prize? selling it at my nursing school. But this journey has become so much more! I have meet great- inspiring people on and offline, received acceptance and opportunities I couldn't have imagined. But I'm not surprised. Why?  Because I moved in the faith and knowledge that Gods got my back. He birthed these ideas in me and has blessed them to succeed. I am in awe. Thank You.

For someone who went from no hope to  talking on  a wide reaching radio show I want to encourage you. What are your dreams? Now act on them. Waiting to live, waiting for perfect...what are you waiting for? The time is now this very instant! Don't wait another second on the would of, could of, should of's  of life. Those you will touch are waiting for you. From rejection to acceptance, from working at my dream job to publishing my first book: my core family and friends have been through it all and I am thankful for them for keeping me grounded and  helping not to take myself so seriously. What dreams are in store for you ? Leave them in the comments below or email me.
I would love to hear from you.

Take Care,

Alternative Nursing Career: Nurse Entrepreneurship

By LeaRae Keyes, BSN, RN, PHN, CCM

There has never been a better time for a nurse to become a nurse entrepreneur than right now. Nurses are able to sell their services and expertise in ways that didn't seem possible in the past. Some of the businesses that nurses are creating include: legal nurse consulting, case management, wellness coach, life care planner, patient advocate, sexual assault nursing, and inventor. These titles are only a few of the businesses that nurses are creating. The opportunities are only limited by the nurse’s imagination, his/her ability to identify an eager target market, and the nurse’s ability to sell to this eager market.

Many nurses want to be in their own business but just don’t know how to get started. At www.nurse-entrepreneur-network.com you can get a free downloadable “Checklist For Starting Your Nurse Entrepreneur Business” by signing up for the free weekly tips. If you decide you don’t want to receive the tips it is an easy process to remove yourself from this list. For those of you who might like a brief overview I will list a few of the steps that are important when you start your own business. These steps are as follows:

·         Decide on a product or service
·         Determine your business model (how you will make money with your endeavor)
·         Identity an eager target market
·         Verify that your target market will in fact buy your product or service
·         Confirm at what price points your target market will purchase your product or service
·         Establish a legal structure for your nurse entrepreneur business
·         Register your name for your nurse entrepreneur business
·         Obtain a tax identification number
·         Create your nurse entrepreneur business plan
·         Develop your nurse entrepreneur marketing plan
·         Determine your criteria for hiring and using the services of the following professionals:
o   Accountant
o   Attorney
o   Banker
o   Insurance Agent
o   Coach
·         Evaluate how you will finance your nurse entrepreneur start up
·         Create your web presence
·         Now it’s time to begin selling your product or service!

Don’t let fear keep you from getting started. Every day you delay starting your nurse entrepreneur business is an opportunity lost.

Resurrecting Your Nursing Career

 By: Tina Lanciault RN

Are you feeling burnout, exhausted, overwhelmed or just don’t care about yourself or your patients?

Yes, unfortunately these feelings do exist at some point in a nurse’s career path.

Some nurses choose to get out of the professional all together and others stay in these unsatisfying jobs that leave them drained at the end of the day with nothing to give to themselves or their loved ones.

So what can nurses do? How can you resurrect your nursing career, reignite that feeling of excitement and ready for whatever the day had to offer? Remember your first nursing job, how motivated you were and couldn’t wait to get out there and help people.

It’s time to get those feeling back!

But knowing what direction to take in your nursing career can be challenging. There’s no chart or blueprint that maps it out for you. Only you can put the pieces together because every nurse will be different in what she has to offer.

So here are 3 tips for figuring this out.

First - Get very clear on what you have to offer. This means what are your skills, personality traits, your expertise, interests, knowledge and experiences. These all play a role in the kind of nursing job you should be choosing for yourself.

Second – Be aware of what you need from you work. This is where your personality traits, your values and interests come in. Don’t take a job that puts you into a work environment you really don’t want to be in. This is a sure way to burnout quickly.

Third – Learn as much as you can about your nursing career options. There are so many opportunities now for nurses that there should be no reason for any nurse to leave the profession. If you love technology and working with software programs then nursing informatics is for you. Or maybe you want to get into marketing and sales; you could work for a pharmaceutical company or medical equipment company.  Maybe you have an idea for a product or service that is needed in your area and you want to start a business, go for it! Becoming a nurse entrepreneur is one of the fastest growing career choices for nurses today.

Take some time, sit down and write out what you want out of your nursing career and include your personal life values into the big picture. What would be your ideal nursing job?

I believe once you get started brainstorming ideas for your nursing career you’ll become excited again, which is a great way to resurrect your joy of being a nurse.
